Wuhan University, adjacent to East Lake and Luojia Mountain, is known as the "most beautiful university in China". Cherry blossoms contribute to the most beautiful scenery at Wuhan University. Wuhan University mainly grows dwarf cherry blossom trees. There are over 10 cherry blossom trees of 6 different varieties at the campus of Wuhan University, including prunus subhirtella, prunus lannesiana and weeping cherry blossom trees. These cherry blossom trees are featured by varied branches and trunks and colorful flowers blooming at different times. From the end of March to the beginning of April of every year, cherry trees outside Yingyuan Student Dormitory will put forth blossoms as white as snow and clouds. The pseudo-classic architecture with silvery grey walls and peacock blue glazed tiles also enhance the beauty of green trees and snow-white flowers, creating a unique scenery. After the one-week short flower season ends, fallen flowers scatter and fly around like snowflakes and cover the ground like a "carpet of flowers". Every spring, Wuhan University will receive numerous visitors across China appreciating cherry blossoms.
