        Wuhan ranked 6th of the “Top 20 Chinese Cities with the Greatest Comprehensive Strength” in 2019 and 2020 according to the rankings published by China City Development Academy and Nielsen.

        In 2020, Wuhan's GDP was 1.56 trillion yuan, ranking 9th among Chinese cities and 5th among sub-provincial cities in the country; its general public budget revenue reached 239.277 billion yuan and total retail sales of consumer goods amounted to 614.984 billion yuan, ranking 9th among cities in China; the actual investment of 932.86 billion yuan made in Wuhan is up 6.7%.

        One billion people live and 90% of China’s economic aggregate is generated within the area of 1,000 square kilometers around Wuhan.
