Jan. 31 witnessed the 2023 first quarter ceremony for starting the construction of 305 major projects, each worth over RMB 100 million, across the city. These projects are backed by a total investment of RMB 302 billion. This ceremony was part of Hubei's 2023 first quarter ceremony for starting the construction of 2,506 major projects, each worth over RMB 100 million, held on the same day.
Recently, the Wuhan Municipal Development and Reform Commission listed 1,154 anticipated major projects, with an investment of more than RMB 1 billion each, and having a total investment of RMB 4.5 trillion.
The projects are in the areas of advanced manufacturing, infrastructure, scientific and technological innovation, and modern service. Among them, 80 projects have an investment of more than RMB 10 billion each; 148 projects have an investment between RMB 5 billion and 10 billion; and 926 projects have an investment ranging from RMB 1 billion to 5 billion.
Among the manufacturing projects, the fourth phase of CALB Power Battery and Energy Storage Battery Wuhan Base, located in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone, has a total investment of RMB 10 billion. It will cover the R&D, manufacturing, and sales of new energy batteries. After completion, the company is expected to produce 25GWh of new energy batteries annually.
Among the infrastructure projects, the Wuhan Hub Direct Line has a total investment of RMB 50.87 billion. The total length of the line is about 107 kilometers.
Among the scientific and technological innovation projects, the CNBG Central China Industrial Base project in Jiangxia District, a biomedical industrial base with product research and development and achievement transformation as its core goals, has a total investment of RMB 5 billion. It will focus on five business sectors: human vaccines, blood products, therapeutic preparations, diagnostic preparations, and technical services.
Among the modern service industry projects, the total investment of the Centrin Data Valley Wuhan Big Data Center project located in Dongxihu District will amount to RMB 10.5 billion. It will build an international standard Class A data center.
